This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What makes my students so special is their thirst for knowledge! I have the privilege of teaching some incredible young minds on a daily basis. I try make every aspect of the school day fun yet interesting.

My school is located outside of NYC in a high poverty area.

The students in my classroom are mostly from homes where English is not the first language. Students often find it hard to get help with their homework because their parents aren't familiar with the language.

My Project

Today's classroom is more than reading, writing and math! Students need to learn about strategies and solutions for the real world.

These project-based learning kits are aimed at creating a Project Based Learning environment in my classroom.

The materials are differentiated for a variety of learners to ensure that every student has the chance to participate on their own learning level. Some of the topics include landfills, recycling and healthy eating. The kits contain all of the materials necessary for the students to research and learn about the topic and then guides them with project ideas to enhance their learning.

I know that these kits will enhance my students learning experience. Students will work in groups to research and complete their projects. They feed off the knowledge of one another rather than relying on me. I know that my students will not only benefit from this way of learning but look forward to it!
