My students live in rugged and beautiful downeast Maine. We live right where agricultural lands meet the coastal waters along the Atlantic. Students grow up learning first hand about wild blueberries and lobsters!
We love to learn about our world through personal and unique experiences.
We work to understand the people, places and things around us. Our small historic town has links to the Revolutionary War. My students are creative and hungry for knowledge. In sixth grade we study world geography in order to gain a global perspective.
My Project
My students will be exposed to different types of math and math applications with the Scholastic Math Magazine subscription. We will be able to put our skills into practice and learn why math is a necessary life skill. Sometimes it's hard for students to imagine how they will use the math we learn in class in real life. Scholastic Math draws real and concrete connections between math skills and actual problems. This magazine will also teach students about financial literacy, which is an essential concept for being successful in the future. My students need this magazine to foster a love and enthusiasm for becoming masters of math.
