This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember how much easier math was when you could actually build, graph and draw out the problem? My students currently do not have that opportunity but are begging for help.
My students are itching to learn and improve at math.
Next year our algebra class will grow from 15 to over 25 and many students who were well below grade level are making great gains. This is at a school where all students receive free breakfast and almost all receive free lunch. They are eager to prove people wrong about what they can accomplish and overcome.
My Project
These resources will make a tremendous amount of difference in my students' lives. When we learn about geometry they will be able to actually build shapes in 3-D, when we graph not only will they be able to make bar and line graphs but also plot coordinates on a plane! They will also be able to see how math connects to real life through real-world math problem solving. How cool is that?
Funding this project will have a broad impact on my students.
They often get the short end of the stick and these materials will reinforce what I have told them, that the whole world really does want them to succeed.
