Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Third-grader (Noun) \ˈthərd grā-dər\ - Someone who is a mathematician, reader, writer, artist, scientist, dancer, leader, explorer, and friend. - Someone who needs access to technology, high-quality books and an inclusive place to learn.
My third graders are curious and they try hard--really hard.
They love to read, write, explore, and find answers to questions. Did you know that they are also bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate? They speak, read, and write in two languages, English and Spanish. That also means that during the school day, they learn in both languages.
My Project
The materials in this project include 2 sets of clocks for students to learn to tell time and work on elapsed-time problems. The two sets of stamps will allow students to get a better understanding of place value - especially subtraction.
Subtraction is a HARD concept, but manipulatives such as stamps can really, really help.
Also, this project supports the purchase of Geoboards so that third graders can manipulate shapes and understand the concepts of area and perimeter.
Finally, I'm requesting a table for students to use and work in groups. The best part? Students can write directly on the tables and chat all about math.
