My Project

Many of my students come from multilingual, diverse, and economically challenged backgrounds. Though eager to learn, they lack access to relatable role models. Nonfiction books bring real-life heroes into the classroom— people who overcame adversity and made a difference, showing students what’s possible. These stories build vocabulary, comprehension, and motivation. Scissors may seem simple, but support fine motor skills and turn reading into hands-on learning. When students cut, sort, and create projects like timelines or collages, they connect deeply with what they read and develop a stronger love for learning.
