Real Life...Yeah, That's A Class

My students need nice aprons and towels to complete culinary labs and personal improvement projects; we are also in need of a few pieces of kitchen equipment.

My Students

Many of my students are interested in taking culinary arts to the next level in high school and then further into a culinary academy. Without proper resources and equipment, they will not be prepared for a future in culinary.

My students attend a great school, however, the district budget does not allow them the greatest of supplies.

If you have any idea of the cost of food supplies, you know how quickly money can disappear! My students deserve a stress free and unlimited amount of food supplies to take the course to its highest potential!

My Project

It is extremely important to me that all of my students learn by "doing". Supplies like new chef aprons, towels and cutting boards will allow them to move forward in their culinary skills and labs. Having taught this subject for the sixth consecutive year, I have witnessed students pursue their dreams in and out of the culinary world. In part, this became possible for them because they were taught life skills and how to capitalize on their strengths. I think more often than not, we are finding that students who do not experience this type of curriculum in their education do not fully understand their personal responsibilities. It is my goal to ensure this foundation in every student!

I piloted a student run restaurant last year called "Falcon Island Cafe" which is open for the second consecutive year.

We serve lunches to staff and teachers a few times a month. The supplies we are requesting will also help students prepare the food for our restaurant. The money earned from the lunches goes back into culinary labs in class.
