My Project
I work with students with varying degrees of cognitive delays. Students who work with me typically spend three periods of the day in my classroom where they are learning functional and academic skills in reading, writing, math. Concurrently they are working on their adaptive skillsets and learning and applying social/emotional learning concepts gain the requisite skills to thrive in a busy middle school.
Our students attend a small urban public middle school in the heart of the city of Seattle.
Students need multiple opportunities to practice these skills in academic, and practical pursuits.
Our students learn a combination of communication, adaptive and social/leisure/recreation skills both in our classroom and in the community. We are creating life-long learning opportunities for our students to succeed in their futures.
