Real Hands-on Learning Labs for My Scientific Scholars

My students need 2 microscopes and microscope slides to start the year and get a get a real hands-on learning experience with cells.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. B.'s classroom raised $292

My Students

"We, as scientific scholars, strive for perfection, but will settle for excellence." My scholars strive daily to achieve their goals and you can see it, everyday, in our science classroom.

My scholars are my motivation for teaching.

They are incredible individuals who, for the most part, face more real stress and more baggage than most of us 2, 3, 4 times their age could only imagine. Despite all of this, they can come to school and feel safe, feel that someone cares for them and their education. My scholars have a lot of catching-up to do, especially in science. They attend a charter school in the Recovery School District of New Orleans, Louisiana with limited funding for science equipment and materials. Hands-on science can change my scholars' lives; it makes science learnable, understandable, and applicable. They need it! Manipulative and interactive activities allow my scholars to learn, grow and enjoy science! Please join me in the effort and help me to help them achieve!

My Project

Imagine looking at a flake of dry skin, or the the end of a hair follicle. Or perhaps the processes of mitosis and meiosis in cell division. How about microorganisms like amoebas? To do this, you would need a scientific microscope. My scholars are eager to view these among many others and deepen their understanding of life through scientific inquiry. My scholars will be able to learn about the different cells that make up living organisms, the type of specialized cells within human beings, and the processes cells undergo to keep us alive.

Having laboratory activities for my scholars keeps them motivated and engaged in the task at hand.

I want them to touch and feel the science topics we learn about during class. Science is everywhere, but we need these crucial science resources to better understand the world around us. My scholars want to be researchers, engineers, and pediatricians. Please support us and inspire their love of science. Doing so will help keep them in school and motivated to further their education.
