This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have all had the frustration of trying to do good work with the wrong tools. Give my students the experience of creating their artistic vision with the right tools. Your gift will let them cut stencils, fill up sketchbooks, and create hundreds of artworks. Empower these young artists!

My students are all in an audition free, public, visual arts program and many travel as much as one hour each way for the arts.

Our students are bright, respectful motivated and engaged. We are located in downtown Los Angeles with an exciting art world, but buying art supplies is a challenge for our low income students. Over 70% of our school is on free or reduced cost lunch. They really do not have access to private lessons, good materials, or other forms of enrichment. It is great to work with them in a public arts school. It is changing their lives. This project will give the most needy students access to the real materials of the visual arts. With 40 advanced placement students creating portfolios in drawing and design, and 200 students participating in design, painting, and life drawing, I have so many great artists to put to work with your donation. My students are prolific, creating as many as 36 pieces each year per class. We have a constant need for materials.

My Project

We need quality drawing materials. Prismacolor pencils and chalk pastels are the standard for great color and coverage. My AP Studio Art classes and Life Drawing classes will be using these to prepare portfolios. The Stencil cutting tools and materials are for my AP Studio Art Design class and Design students. Students will follow their printmaking project (funded by donors choose!) with a stencil cutting project. Cutting stencils is extremely popular with students and also a great skill to master. Each cut is important and it requires much planning and critical thinking to come out with a great stencil in the end. The sketchbooks art for students who need a place to draw, think and capture their ideas. Our students are extremely excited about going on sketching field trips. Using these sketchbooks, they will now have a place to collect their plans, drawings and ideas in a unified place- their sketchbooks. Your donation(s) will go to students who cannot afford to buy their own book.

Great art education empowers students.

We have an incredibly high attendance rate and our students love to come to school. Your donation(s) will be highly motivating and enable students to create hundreds of artworks. Using poor supplies is frustrating. It will be so inspiring to use good materials and to be challenged with hands on assignments like stencil cutting to improve the students knowledge of how art is made and how to think about getting professional results.
