My Students

Our school is a Title I school, located in a small, rural county. Our classrooms are filled with a diverse makeup of students that include English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.

Our students are very eager to learn, and they come to school excited for a new day.

Most of our students come from low-income households where there are limited budgets for school materials and supplies; however, their families are very supportive and very involved our school community!

My Project

Addition and subtraction with regrouping is a math skill that some of my struggling learners find difficult to master. They sometimes become confused when trying to learn the process. When adding, they forget to carry the digit in the tens place. When subtracting, they forget to borrow from next door when the digit on the bottom is bigger than the digit on the top.

My students will be better able to master addition and subtraction skills by using fun-to-use regrouping kits that make complicated math problems easier to solve!

They will find these hands-on kits engaging as they are able to visualize and manipulate the regrouping process in front of them!
