My Students
Do you remember how excitedly you entered your classroom when you were a small child? The bright new crayons and bright, shiny books? The anticipation of learning something new and wonderful? I want to create that same kind of excitement for my students each day they enter our classroom.
I have a wonderful group of 23 first graders.
They are lively, energetic and excited about learning. We are a high need school in which the ESL population has increased by 500% in the past three years. Almost 50% of our student qualify for free and reduced lunch.
My Project
My students need a selection of quality books in our classroom library. This will allow them to select interesting books to read during our Readers Workshop time. Readers are leaders. Acquiring these basic fundamental skills through workstations will give my students the power to become capable readers. The door to the world's possibilities will be open to them!
Having access to engaging books is vital!
In order to develop a lifelong love of reading, children need to be able to choose books THEY think are exciting and interesting. Adding these books to our classroom library will ensure they have a wide selection of books from which to choose
