This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an amazing group of curiosity-seeking, hard-working, school-loving students. They thrive despite the challenges they face daily like growing up in an area of low economic development or learning English as their second language. They grow by leaps and bounds in their year with me!
As many other districts, we face budget cuts and just do not have the resources to buy even books for our students to read.
My Kindergarteners are emerging readers, they have to have exciting titles to start them off on their literary journey.
My Project
For many of my students their experience in Kindergarten is their first experience with school. We want to foster a love of everything-especially reading! The more often students get time to read on their own, for fun the more they develop a passion for reading.
These books are fun, exciting stories that will speak to my students.
Every day we have structured time where the students can choose whatever book they'd like to read and read it uninterrupted. Hopefully this will develop not only reading skills in my kiddos but also a passion for good books! Your donation could ensure that my students have choices in what they read.
