This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Everyday my students come to school with positive attitudes and the brightest smiles we could ask for! They are so excited to be in school and curious to know what sort of activity we will be doing in the classroom each day. I truly look forward to helping them learn and preparing them for kindergarten.
The area our school is located in, is a low income neighborhood, our students all receive a free lunch and snack everyday.
We are always working with our families to ensure our students are getting the necessities in order for them to be successful. No matter what, my students come to school ready to learn their letters, play, read stories, count, and sing songs. It is truly inspiring to watch my students grow and learn throughout the year.
My Project
My students are ready to read! Every day we practice our pre primer sight words. There are 40 words on the list! They are all working really hard to know all the words so that they can start reading independently. Many of them are already noticing the words in books they enjoy reading and will point and identify the words. I am asking for sight word readers so that my students can begin reading on their own, build their confidence to read independently or to their peers. These activities are a fun and engaging way for them to practice and play so they are prepared to read when they go to kindergarten.
