Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are an enthusiastic and inquisitive group of children. They're mostly second language learners with families originating from various Latin American Countries. While some live with both parents, siblings and/or extended family, others live with a single working parent or share living space with non-related room mates. The '20-'21 has been taught entirely via Distance Learning as we continue to work and learn in these times of the Pandemic. Despite the struggles that my students and their families face, they thrive with loving support from home and high classroom expectations.

Curiosity, joyfulness, persistence and collaborative are all words that describe my group of young scholars who are preparing to meet the challenges of the future.

I am proud of the way they've learned to remain engaged in less-than-desirable circumstances this school year. I'm also proud of the way their families have gone above and beyond in helping to create our classroom community. Experiences within our classroom have set the stage for 1st grade and beyond.

My Project

The magna tiles, dramatic play capes, and laminating pouches will help my students feel excited to come to class every day! I make sure our classroom is an environment that stimulates and supports their interests.

Smiling, enthusiastic faces and creative minds eagerly come everyday, ready to listen, learn and share!

Imagine the excitement when my students create a lovely and long lasting book marker that we can laminate, making finding our place in our workbooks a pie of pie; imagine the excitement of children choosing a cape for dramatic play as they jump into character, emulating the characteristics thinking of the key word on their cape. Imagine the joy of thinking like little engineers building with the magna tiles! We are preparing for a return to the classroom, and when we do, we will be ready!
