My Students

My students are a sweet and motivated bunch, each with their own strengths and challenges. Many are learning English as a second language, while striving to keep up with the rigorous pace of public school. Others need some creative assistance with meeting kinesthetic needs to aid with focus and attention span. Some come from poverty or other difficult situations, but we all strive to be one ohana that cares for each other. We are Kealakehe Warriors of Kailua Kona, Hawaii!

My Project

Aloha!

The past year has been a challenge, and our students have been through a lot.

The transition back to full-time, in-person learning will be unlike anything we have experienced before. Our students and their families need to be met with the warmest welcome possible and feel that they are in a safe space to cultivate the love of learning. In order to do this, the classroom will need to be not only equipped with the proper supplies but set up in a way that will put students at ease and feel comfortable in a social setting. We are asking for snacks to fuel their brains, classroom decorations and materials to create a calming and creative space, and sensory tools for dealing with big feelings.
