Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my class we learn all subjects and we do several long term projects. We will be transitioning from typical desks with storage to tables with no storage. Keeping supplies organized will be a challenge. We have to "find the calm in the chaos". Staying organized helps us stay stress-free.
My school is considered to be low socioeconomic.
We have 100% free lunch and we live in the area with the worst unemployment rates. My 2nd graders have great needs both socially and academically. School is a safe haven for many of them. They love school and learning.
My Project
Most of my students live in multi-family households or such small spaces where they have no quiet space or room for their own belongings. They lack the discipline of keeping their belongings organized in one spot. I intend to teach them the importance of being tidy and neat and to use their time wisely.
My students will not stress out because they cannot find an assignment.
They will have their own space in my classroom for their belongings. They will learn the organizational skills with these requested seat sacks.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
