Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of first graders in a Title I school. While they are excited to come to school and eager to learn, my students are faced with a tremendous amount of adversity. Since we are located in a high crime and high poverty area, my students and their families are faced with many challenges. It is often difficult for my students to keep up with the high demands of school with a lack of support at home. It is at school, however, that they get to experience and explore the wonderful world of education while in a safe and loving environment. Their love of learning is inspiring!

My Project

Each student will use their notebook to create a daily writing journal. They will also visit the writing center where they will continue to practice letter formation and sentence building. My students will use their pencil boxes to transport their writing supplies from their desk to the writing center. They will utilize their writing folders to assist them in following the writing process as they produce their work.

These materials will be used to inspire my students to express themselves through creative writing.

We hope to publish our work in the hallway each month for everyone to see our hard work. Your donation will help my students find the fun in learning and excel in writing!
