My students need Math manipulatives and Morning Tub activities to get their brains started in the morning. I am trying to move away from worksheets and Morning Math Tubs are a great way to do this.

My Students
My students are small six year old boys and girls that come from varying social and economic backgrounds, some being more fortunate than others. Our school is 100% free lunch and breakfast and many children receive backpack food for the weekend. Many students come to school without appropriate clothing, never mind the appropriate tools that they need to be successful learners. That is where I come in. It is my job to meet the needs of every student that comes through my door and I want to provide the environment to help them all thrive, no matter where they come from or what they lack.
My Project
All children learn differently and some need to expand their learning with enrichment activities. These manipulatives (magnatiles, tinker toys, interlox, block buddies, dice etc.) will provide support for all learners in my classroom and allow for exploration. I plan on using many of these manipulatives for Morning Math Tubs, instead of worksheets, as well as during my Guided Math Centers. These manipulatives will excite children and get them motivated to learn. These manipulatives will also provide the opportunity to differentiate instruction in the classroom. I am excited to watch my children use a higher level of thinking and have meaningful conversations about what they are learning.
