My students need 49 paper recycling boxes that can be visible and noticeable school-wide in order to get the entire school on board with recycling.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. D.'s classroom raised $1,109
This project is fully funded
My school is in a high poverty area; approximately 60% of students receive a free lunch, while about another 15% receive a reduced-cost lunch.
The poverty-stricken kids in my school need an opportunity to serve the community as a whole. Often they are unable to see beyond their own situations.
Upon my arrival to school, I was alarmed to find that there was absolutely NO recycling system in place. Schools go through so much paper, I hate to see it all going to the landfill when it could be reused.
These two problems combine to create a fantastic opportunity. I can get students educated about and interested in recycling and how it can help the community. They will be serving the greater good, while also feeling a sense of accomplishment in taking care of the actual collection of the paper to be recycled.
I am so excited about this opportunity for the kids!
In Phase I of "Club Ready, Set, Recycle" my plan is to get recycling bins in most of the copy rooms and classrooms in the school building.
After that, we will be looking for larger collection containers with wheels as a way of getting the paper out to the recycling truck when it comes each Tuesday.
My vision is to have a dozen students or so be the brains and brawn of this operation. I want them to take ownership of the project and to perform the necessary tasks. My role, as I see it, is to guide them in this endeavor.
Your generous and kind donation will make it possible for my students to feel a part of something important and worthwhile. Thank you so much, in advance, for your help!
