My Project

I am requesting some great titles to add to my classroom library. I bounce between three schools teaching Gifted and Enrichment groups ranging from first to fifth grade. My students are always craving new books to read. I would love to add a variety of new titles for them to dive into! We spend a majority of our time working through project-based learning. These students, however, love to browse the books on my shelf and borrow them to read.

Who doesn’t love a great book?

My older students in particular love to find a good series to really connect with the characters. I love to hear the conversations they have when multiple students have read the same book. I aim to have a rich environment filled with opportunities for students to talk about books.

Reading should be a life-long love. I celebrate special days throughout the year by having reading times. One of our favorite days through the year is D.E.A.R. Day, which stands for Drop Everything And Read. I transform my room using various themes, such as Starbooks, a beach, or campground. I want students to see how fun and exciting reading can be so they spend the rest of their lives loving books.
