This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” ~Margaret Fuller Books are so important to early education. Books hold two important roles: 1. Help students learn to read. 2. Help instill a desire to want to read. PLEASE HELP my students be readers and leaders!
My students are inner city kids with limited exposure to books, or any educational supplies.
The school system provides less than the bare minimum for classroom teachers. Students at my school enter kindergarten and are considered to be 5 years below the average student. They are wonderful children who have the potential to be successful, however they need guidance. Some of the students in our school are from homes with 6 or more siblings, further limiting what they are given. They are wonderful children who at such a young age still have a desire to learn, and a love for education. Books is a wonderful way to start!
My Project
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
~Dr. Seuss
Books are the most important part of school for children. The books I have asked for are interesting and age appropriate. Some of them come with Cd's so the students are able to listen to a book over and over. There is music on the Cd's to help peek the students' interest. These books will help children learn to read and at the same time keep their attention. Learning to read is the first step to becoming successful.
“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” ~ Oscar Wilde the books I have requested will be available to my students at any time, as well as future students.
There are 3 kindergarten classes (26 children in each) that will be able to share these books. Think about how many children you will be helping!! PLEASE help fight illiteracy!
