This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school service a high number of socially-economically disadvantaged students in the South Central Los Angeles area. Many of my 1st grade students are English Language Learners with limited academic vocabulary. They are eager for an education, however, the lack of resources prevent them from getting motivated and truly show case their talents.

Many of my students have a variety of hardships at home, but at school, I try to make it a positive place where they can grow, learn, and be successful.

They come to school with BIG dreams, and I want to provide the best learning environment for them.

My Project

I am asking for Interactive Phonics Journals, a mini timer, a Read, Built & Write Sight Board and Write & Wipe Answer Mini-White Boards, so that I can use them during small group instruction and independent stations.

The requested literacy resources, will support my teaching by allowing my students to have daily hands-on opportunities so they can master their phonemic awareness and phonics skills in a fun and engaging way!

It will also gauge students' multiple learning modalities and keep them focus. In addition, it will develop great time management skills and good organizational tips through the daily exposure of rotations.
