Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children are motivated, independent, and very capable people. I want to create an accessible and organized classroom so my future first graders can flourish.
Developing organizational skills will increase success not just in school, but also in life later on.
My students are from Los Angeles, California.
Our school is a Title I school with 97% of students receiving free or reduced rate lunch.
Our charter school "aims to empower, prepare, and inspire urban students to achieve their highest potential and become active citizens who work toward building a more just, humane, and sustainable world."
My ideal classroom environment would embody this mission statement.
My Project
One of the drawbacks of our charter school is the limited space.
My classroom next year is going to be relatively small for up to 25 energetic first graders. I am asking for Seat Sacks and storage drawer organizers. I want to make sure they will be able to navigate our space comfortably, safely, and efficiently. I also want to ensure that the materials we use the most are at their fingertips. This way, instead of worrying about finding what they need, my students will be able to focus on learning!
My goal is to place more of the responsibility of managing materials on my future students so they become successful and active participants of their classroom environment and learning.
The donations to this project will support an organized classroom, foster independence, and equip students with important life skills.
Materials will be incorporated into everyday lessons and classroom activities to develop good organizational habits.
Studies have shown that organizational skills are an irreplaceable building block for success. I hope to foster good habits that will benefit my students for years to come!
