Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a community where they are sometimes missing the essentials needed for school and just everyday life. For some of them, the school is the safest place they know.
I teach Physical Education and Health in a low-income, diverse, inner-city neighborhood where 100% of my students receive free lunch and breakfast.
My students are children that are sometimes responsible for themselves and their siblings. They work hard to survive in a community that tries to hold them back.
My Project
Our students need help with understanding their bodies and how they work. I work with children every day that have a hard time running just a few laps. They also think that hot chips are part of a good breakfast. My students would use these magazines to read and learn more about healthy choices. Hopefully, with this knowledge that they gain, it will be shared with their friends and family. Some of my students take care of themselves and their brothers and sisters until a parent arrives at home. This will help them with making better choices when they eat, exercise and play.
