My Students
I teach in a rural low socio-economic title 1 school. The students in my school qualify for 100% free lunch and breakfast. Many students come to school without the basic supplies needed for school. This is completely understandable being that many do not know what type of situation they will go home to daily. Several barely have their basic needs met, causing school to oftentimes be the last thing on their minds.
These students have overcome many obstacles and will continue to do so throughout their lives.
They are capable with the love, patience, and guidance.
As their teacher, my goal is to provide the best education possible for them. In order to do that their basic school supplies need to be readily available to them.
My Project
The Goal of this Ready, Set, Go project is to ensure students are prepared to participate and learn daily without worry! Knowing they will walk into class every day with all they need reduces the anxiety associated with not being prepared.
These students will use the pencils, folders, sentence strips, interactive pocket charts, student dividers, and Language Arts activity books in my class so that they may have the best learning experience possible given their low socioeconomic status.
By providing these materials these students will no longer be embarrassed or worried about having what they need in class daily. Knowing that they will have all they need to be successful at school empowers students!
