My Students

I teach 25 pretty awesome first grade students and I love each and every one of them.
Every one of these students are special and unique in their own way. Most speak fluent Spanish and are beginning to learn the English language. Some come from homes where a grandparent is their primary caretaker. A couple of students belong to our nutrition club, a program where students are sent home with a backpack of food to help feed their families over the weekend. But, while they have their own challenges, every single family sends their child to school prepared to learn every day. I take my job very seriously and want nothing but the best for my students. While I may have high expectations of behavior and student work, all of my students know I care about each one of them.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are much needed. First, I am requesting pencil pouches so all supplies can be easily stored. The current pouches we are using are worn and must be replaced. I am also requesting a digital clock to help with teaching elapsed time. I am requesting shelves to store the requested math station activities easily. The station activities I am requesting are fundamental in reinforcing the skills I have taught but in a fun way. Finally, the classical music CD's I am requesting will be used on a daily basis. I always have music playing in my class and feel it sets the tone for a positive learning environment. I would love to add more music to our collection.
