Ready, Set, Go Backpacks to Succeed Distance Learning!
Help me give my students the best distance learning materials. Each backpack contains developmentally appropriate activities for children to complete with their parents. All the activities are printed in both English and Spanish. These activities reinforce basic skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students face several challenges both in and out of the classroom. All of my students have been identified with special needs such as autism, developmentally delayed, intellectual disabilities, language impairment, and deaf and hard of hearing. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for the best classroom tools to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My early childhood special education students are very creative and full of energy.
They like to observe, play, and explore new materials. A typical day in our class is based on learning through play. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth. I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
These backpacks contain the best materials to reinforce basic skills for preschoolers to succeed during distance learning. The activities go from counting objects to letter recognition. Parents will have at home the best developmentally appropriate materials such as colorful bears to sort and count, a ball for motor activities, language building books etc. As we do our online classes, the kids will have the same materials we use in the classroom and they will be able to follow the virtual class. Also, parents will be able to review the activities on their own time as well.
