Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a school in Hialeah, Florida, and my school receives Title I funding because over 90% of our students are on free or reduced lunch, and our community is made up of low-income families; however, don't feel sorry for me or my students because although our pockets may not be full, our hearts certainly are. We are a loving family, but every family needs a little help sometimes.
My school is the best; they are kind, humble, hard-working and always hungry to learn.
To that end, there are materials that would truly help facilitate the 2019-2020 school year for myself and my students. You could make a great difference in the educational lives of my pupils.
My Project
During the school year, students are tasked with assignments that require hands-on creativity, which demonstrate the former's understanding of the lessons being taught in class. Students will aptly showcase what they know using the materials provided. For example, the resources requested will allow students to create anchor charts based on content being learned in class and work in groups with whiteboards/dry erase markers to respond to questions in class or to brainstorm and plan an essay by creating a web or making an outline. Ultimately, arts in crafts can be used on a weekly basis to allow students to creatively enhance their interactive notebook. The possibilities are truly endless!
Witnessing how students grow and expand, not only academically, but also socially is a great reward for me, as an educator.
