My Project
Compassion is knowing and understanding that others struggle and go through hard times.
I want nothing more than to teach my students compassion and I believe that through crafting and giving to others is a powerful way to do so.
I will initially introduce them to some of the people that could use compassion for various reasons such as soldiers overseas, sick people in the hospital, senior citizens in homes, kids in foster care, and many more. Along the way I will ask questions such as "How would it make you feel if you got this craft?" or "Do you think this could cheer somebody up?" I would teach them based off of their answer that this is showing compassion, showing you care, spreading kindness to those that need it most. We will then go through realistic scenarios and do simulations and role playing so that they can learn all about compassion and learn to see the world through the eyes of others, especially those that need compassion, but also see how it positively effects people. I will measure their knowledge if they can answer these questions and tell me how they think the crafts will show compassion to those that need it most.
We would then deliver our crafts to those that my students choose and hope that they feel compassion and joy when they receive their crafts. In the end I would love for my students to remember moments like this and even long after they are graduated, do things that show compassion to others. Hopefully these crafts will alleviate some of the pain and suffering others are going through. Hopefully it will make an impact and help others in a time of need.
