This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Through the love of reading students open the doors to a world of experiences. Creating that love of reading is my goal this year. I hope to achieve this love of reading by providing the students in my classroom with the opportunity to read lots of books, such as Splat the Cat, and Henry and Mudge, at their beginning reading level.

When the schools were shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our students lost a lot of reading instruction.

This was followed by a year of online learning. While we all did the best we could, learning was limited. This year we are working hard to move our students forward in every way. For me this means helping them read more, at their level.

Books such as Amelia Bedelia, Pete the Cat, and Tyrannosaurus Rex will engage them and make them want to read more, as well as help build their fluency. My goal is to provide this important opportunity.
