My Students
Can you remember the excitement of kindergarten roundup? There are few events that can rival the excitement for little ones who are finally old enough to go to school. Often they have watched their older siblings go to school, now it is their turn. Help us make kindergarten roundup a special day.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, and the families are involved with the education of their students.
Although we are technically in an urban area, we are on the fringe. In fact, a few blocks from the school you will find pastures and cows! The students come to school wanting to learn. The families struggle more and more each year due to the economy, but are very hard working individuals. Our free and reduced numbers have risen each year. Our school has high expectations for our students, and therefore the students have high expectations of themselves. The staff work very closely together and truly use the philosophy that it takes a village to raise a child. The staff all take students under their wing when they have academic or personal struggles.
My Project
Each year we have a kindergarten roundup to introduce next year's incoming kindergarten students and parents to the school. There are several activities planned. The nurse gives each student a special bandaid, and they get to know her. There are special crowns and badges for the prospective students to proudly wear. The new students also get bags that have pencils, sidewalk chalk, bookmarks, and other goodies, as well as a welcome to kindergarten postcard. The students get to meet the teachers that they will have in the fall and take a tour of the school. It is also an important time for parents to get information that they will need. This project will help provide the materials for this special day.
It is important to me that our new students feel welcome at school.
These items will make each student feel special, and will have them eagerly anticipating the start of school in the fall. I appreciate any help that is given to help us with this project.
