Help me give my students these two Chromebooks. We will be working on a writing unit in nonfiction. My students will be choosing a topic based upon something that they would like to research to learn more about.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I wake up every morning excited to start my day. I feel like I am the luckiest person on Earth for being able to work with such an amazing group of kids. Nearly all of my second grade students come from low income households and they are struggling to perform at grade level because they don't have the resources at home to succeed. Most of them are English Language learners and some of them are students with disabilities.
However, despite their struggles, their eagerness to learn is inspiring.
My goal is to get all of my students the access to resources they need to succeed academically.
My Project
My second graders are ready to start learning how to research a non-fiction topic. They will each choose their own topic based upon something that they would like to learn more about. They will then conduct research using digital materials. These two Chromebooks will give my students access to information on their topic. After they research their topic, they will then learn how to construct a research paper with a table of contents, introduction, body, and conclusion. They will also learn how to site sources. The Chromebooks will allow the students to type their papers and make them look professional.
