it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an amazing group of curiosity-seeking, hard-working, school-loving students. They thrive despite the challenges they face daily like growing up in an area of low economic development or learning English as their second language. They grow by leaps and bounds in their year with me!
Like many districts across the country, we face budget cuts and there is just not enough money to supply resources for every classroom.
Our kiddos deserve to have the best! I have so many goals for them throughout the year-to learn mindfulness, grit, critical thinking, empathy in addition to our regular curriculum. They come to school every day so eager to learn about the world around them.
My Project
Recess is an important part of our day! Every day I take my kindergarten students outside to give them an opportunity to get some exercise and develop coordination skills. The problem is that sliding down the same old slides and running around chasing each other gets boring pretty quickly.
I am asking for help in getting some resources such as jump ropes, balls, and hula hoops that my students can use to structure their playground play.
They will learn how to kick the soccer ball and to lift the parachute. This will not only help them develop their gross motor skills and coordination but will make recess more fun and exciting for them. Many of my kiddos do not really play outside at home-school is their only opportunity to explore and discover new games. Who knows, maybe your donation will help discover the next Pele or Mia Hamm.
