This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students come from a rich variety of backgrounds, with many different skill sets and learning needs. In addition to a core Language Arts class, some students take an additional reading class to help boost their comprehension skills. We are requesting a set of workbooks that will allow students to practice with passages that are aligned to our state assessments. These workbooks will be a tremendous resource to the classroom teachers in exposing students to the state standards in an interesting and meaningful way.
Having test-aligned, high-interest skills workbooks will help ensure that students move closer to their goals of 6th grade proficiency.
As we continue to return to normalcy after the pandemic, learning gaps between students have become more apparent. These materials will support equal access to the standards in a rigorous and interesting way for the the students in reading classes. By donating to this project, you are not only supporting the students' needs, but you are also giving the teacher an important tool for helping students feel more confident in their reading.
