As a teacher in a Title I school district, my students are faced with challenges in their everyday lives. I have noticed that coming to school for some of my students has provided them a sense of belonging and they receive the attention they need.
My students are caring, thoughtful students that provide one another the encouragement and support we sometimes need.
My students enjoy seeing one another succeed. Their love for reading is heartwarming and their drive to learn makes my job that much more rewarding.
Based on some of my students' socioeconomic status, it is hard for them to always have the resources they need to learn at their best ability. I sometimes wish there was more I could do for my students, but I only have so much control on how I can impact their lives. I am hoping to have an impact on my students, that will help my special education students succeed just as well as their general education peers.
My Project
My students this upcoming year have not been in a classroom since March 2020. I was lucky to have taught them as 6th graders, which would have been their first year in middle school, but they were all remote. This year I will be working with them again as 7th graders.
I would like to provide my students with planners to help them organize themselves and situate to their new life as middle schoolers.
This is their first year moving through different subjects each day. While it is a transition for most, it is a larger one for students who have not been in school for over a year.
I would like to also provide them masks if they ever forget theirs, to ensure they are safe at all times. Thank you for considering donating to my students.
