it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher in a high-poverty school, I have the unique opportunity to work with a group of thirty-three students from varying backgrounds who all contribute unique skills and experiences to our classroom.
Our class is made up of a multilingual and global community of learners, with over half the class speaking a language other than English at home.
These bright, innovative, spunky students are enthusiastic readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and historians. They deserve the best education in the world!
My Project
My 5th graders are getting ready to move on to middle school, where they move from a classroom with one teacher and 28 classmates to a school where they have up to 9 teachers and hundreds of classmates. One part of this transition is learning organization skills, particularly around homework. I want to give my students the tools they will need to be successful in middle school. That is why I am asking for homework planners so we can begin to practice writing down our homework every day for each subject. My students are also experiencing more stress as puberty kicks in and the end of their elementary career grows nearer. Therefore, I am asking for sensory, stress releasing toys that will help them cope with this stress.
