This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are part of a wonderful Spanish Immersion program. Instruction in Kindergarten is taught 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. They are life-long learners in a bilingual community. My students are full of excitement, confidence, and are hard workers. They are curious learners, ready to collaborate and problem solve. Each student is unique and has different learning styles. I want my students to thrive in the classroom and build the foundation they need to be successful in the school years to come.
My Project
As we prepare to transition from distance learning to in person learning, my first priority is to keep my students safe, through the least physical contact with the surroundings in their learning environment. One way to do this is to ensure that each student has access to their own individual learning materials.
During times like these, it is important to plan in an organized manner.
All materials in this project are a perfect way to keep everything in a single, organized manner. In lieu of paper copies kept in cubbies or baskets, the journals and pocket sleeve will keep everything tidy. We will use the writing journal to practice letter formation, write words, and drawing activities. Math journals will complement our Math curriculum lessons. The Math unit we will focus on is addition and subtraction concepts, so this journal will be perfect for students to draw, write, and solve their problems. The dry erase pocket sleeves will be a great way to reuse paper copies, to practice different skills across the curriculum. They can also be used as a white board. Since we have to keep 6 feet apart, students can show me their thinking from a distance, using this dry erase pocket sleeve. Thank you for your consideration in helping us with this project!
