This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 8th grade U.S. History at a Title I school, where my students are at a pivotal stage — preparing for high school and, eventually, college. Many are still discovering the value of education and learning how to take responsibility for their own academic growth.

They are curious, capable, and full of potential.

What they need now are the right tools and systems to stay focused, organized, and engaged as they develop the skills they’ll carry with them far beyond my classroom.

That’s where this project comes in.

The color-coded notebooks and folders will help students build strong organizational habits as we explore topics like the Constitution, civil rights, the evolution of American democracy, and the impact of the World Wars. I’ll also be teaching them structured note-taking strategies to help improve critical thinking and information retention — key skills for success in high school and beyond.

The clipboard set will support gallery walks, group work, and movement-based lessons that promote collaboration and active learning.

The colored pencils and large easel pads will bring creativity and visual thinking into the classroom, helping students create timelines, cause-and-effect charts, and anchor posters to display key concepts and historical themes.

The rolling storage cart will help keep six periods' worth of graded work and handouts organized, allowing me to give students timely feedback while maintaining smooth classroom routines.

Finally, the mechanical pencils will ensure students are always prepared to take notes, complete assignments, and participate in class without disruption — a small but critical piece of supporting their success.

Together, these supplies will support student organization, creativity, and responsibility. Your support will have a lasting impact on their classroom experience and their future success.
