My Students
My students attend a Title I school, so a majority of the students come from families with low incomes. Some of them are learning English as their second language, and having hands-on and very visual learning experiences are best to really help them get the vocabulary necessary to be successful in school.
My students are full of excitement about learning and love coming to school!
The students I work with are full of great questions and really care about doing their best. Some of them are dealing with challenges in life, but they are all wonderful kids and a joy to work with!
My Project
I am creating an area of my classroom that can help students focus on their work, read a story in a relaxing area, and help make our classroom feel more like home.
Everyone enjoys being in a relaxing environment.
It helps with with focus, relaxation, and productivity. As a young teacher I inherited much of my furniture. The result is that I have things that function but are a mismatch of old, hard furniture that leaves much to be desired.
My students love to complete work around the room with partners and to get the chance to move away from their desks from time to time, and these chairs would help me complete my reading/work nook that will be utilized by all of my students in both small group and partner settings. This is part of my larger goal to make my classroom become a calming, peaceful space which my students need!
