The school has a high population of low-income students with several students below proficiency in ELA and math. This is not a Title I school, but several classifications of socio-economic groups at the school would benefit from this project. Prior to COVID support, more than half of the student population qualified for free and reduced-price lunch.
A large population of students at the school do not have access to books at home.
Many families do not read with their students or share the importance of literacy due to low socio-economic status.

These resources will support fourth grade standards and be used for RL 4.1, RI 4.1, RL 4.3, RI4.2, and RI4.10 with nonfiction and fiction texts. Students need access to complex texts in a variety of both fiction and nonfiction genres.
Students will also work on writing standard W4.10 while working on social-emotional challenges through writing prompts.
Students have been struggling with social-emotional challenges due to COVID restrictions, school shut downs, and mask requirements. These writing prompts can be used for weekly assignments and as brain breaks for students that need an emotional break.
Wobble stools are a great tool to help students with severe ADHD focus while learning. They allow them to move while focus on reading, writing, and many other tasks that require attention while providing an outlet for excess energy.
