My students need fun games to encourage them to believe learning is fun. My students come to school at all different levels and educational games bring students to the same level.
I have a diverse group of students each year that come with biggest hearts and strong desire to learn. The students that I work with are amazingly kind to one another and show me everyday how caring the world can be. LCES has a wide range of students with different backgrounds. I have taught students from more than 10 different countries as well as many born right here in Charlotte.
Sadly, many of the students come to school without the things they need to learn.
Such as supplies, worldly experiences, or healthy nutrition to make sure their brain is ready. Sixty percent of student at Long Creek receive free or reduced lunch. Yet, with all this being said they come to school everyday wanting to learn!
My Project
Students will be receiving several different games that will advance their skills in reading, writing, and math. They also will receive tools that will make reading more fun and help them grow at a quicker pace.
When students are at school they don't want to sit at a desk all day and do work, they want to have fun.
These materials will get students working cooperatively with other students in a way that doesn't seem like work, but rather a game. Students will be using clipboards to move around the room and still have a solid surface for their work. They will have whisper phones to make reading more fun and it improves their fluency. Students of all levels will be able to work together because as a higher level students helps a struggling student in a game it will feel as if they are just playing. Math and reading games are a great way to encourage students to learn and become a team!
