Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 23 eager first graders in an inner city school. Most of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Many of them are English Language Learners. They work very hard to attain and exceed their first grade goals.

With the economic times that we face, education budgets are being cut. This trickles right down to the classroom. The Simple Story Boxes will allow me to help teach reading,math, problem solving and working cooperatively, all at the same time. My class enjoys playing math games to master math facts. The Dice in the Die will be so enticing to them that they won't even realize that they're learning and playing at the same time.

The complete set of Simple Story Problem Boxes are word problems that are ready to use. There is a box for addition, subtraction, mixed operations, and count and compare numbers. Students will be improving their reading, math and thinking skills at the same time. Each box comes with 4 activity mats that allow four students to work at one time using tons of hands-on manipulatives. Each includes 20 problem solving cards that gradually increase in difficulty. The problems can be displayed on the easel box and worked out with the manipulatives. The Dice in Dice Tub has a set of 72 dice. These ingenious dice let students roll 2 numbers at once. Each translucent die has a smaller die right inside, so they're great for practicing simple operations, mental math, exploring probability...the list goes on!

Without your generosity, these materials will not become a reality in my classroom. Please help me to reach my students. Many of them do not have family at home that can help them with their homework due to language barriers. You will make it possible for my students to learn across curriculum areas.
