I want to make my classroom into a Reading Wonderland by having a variety of good books both fiction and non-fiction and a comfortable reading place.
As a first year third grade teacher my classroom library at present is in desperate need of good books in all genre and comfortable places to sit and read. I would like to have a reading corner with two bean bag chairs so students can be comfortable while reading for pleasure.
I want to provide my students with as many opportunities as possible to read in the classroom through Silent Sustained Reading, Classroom Critiques and Recommendation board, book reports and Literacy Circles as well as reading for informational purposes. Therefore I need a variety of reading material to include both fiction and non-fiction. I believe providing my students with a comfortable environment, a variety of reading genre and the opportunity to read for both information and pleasure will play a role in their reading success. You can help me to instill a life long love of reading in my students.
