My students need additional challenging reading resources to continue the development of their reading comprehension.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Crosson's classroom raised $200

My Students
My students are fifth grade students who attend a neighborhood school in a rural/suburban community. The majority of my students live within walking distance of our school. The majority of the children are able to read, write, and perform mathematics at grade level by fifth grade. As a result, our students need higher level challenges to keep them engaged and motivated.
My students are motivated and appreciate the challenge of going beyond the textbook to enhance their learning.
By using "Time for Kids," I will be able to enrich our current curriculum with these supplemental resources and encourage my students' learning.
My Project
Reading is a fundamental skill needed for success in school and beyond. Most of my students enjoy reading and are currently reading at or above grade level. I am constantly striving to provide them with additional high interest reading materials. This is especially true for my reluctant readers. At the fifth grade level, many of my reluctant readers are boys and they often seem to prefer nonfiction reading selections.
The addition of the "Time for Kids" magazine to our reading resources will provide high interest, high quality reading selections for all of my students.
I believe that the magazine's focus on nonfiction/informational selections will be especially appealing to my reluctant readers.
