This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I've been a 2nd-grade teacher in title I schools for over 20 yrs. My students are wonderful, bright, inquisitive, and full of potential. I try my best to provide them with new experiences that will prepare them for their future, but unfortunately, my school doesn't have the funds to provide access to the many of the tools needed to further their learning. The children I teach deserve the exposure and experiences that are more difficult to come by when living in a low-income area.
My Project
My students take home classroom books for their daily reading. Sometimes they forget to carry them or getting new titles. It would be much easier for my kids to read if they were able to access many books, at their reading level, and online any time and anywhere. Having the Raz Kids program would definitely help my students improve their reading skills. Being able to choose from a variety of books and genres would also increase their interest in reading and encourage them to become more independent readers. As a teacher, my goal is to have students that not only are good readers, but also develop a love for reading and learning. I feel that having access to Raz kids would help me support my students in reaching these goals.
