Have you ever read a book that you just couldn't put down? My students are limited on their access to books, magazines and newspapers. These Kindles will help give them access to more reading materials to improve their reading skills.
NEOS is a Title I school where the average income of the parents are below $12,000.
My fourth graders are well below grade level in reading and struggle to meet the skills to succeed in the 21st Century. They have hopes to attend college to become teachers, doctors, police officers and nurses. The idea of college is an opportunity that many of our families believe is out of reach for their child. I help to keep these dreams alive for my students and push them to achieve their goals and dreams.
My Project
The ability to read with meaning and fluency is a life skill for all successful adults. These Kindles will be used as a tool to help students increase their reading level, understanding, fluency rate and world knowledge. All students love going to work stations throughout the day. The Kindles will be used as a work station to help students improve their reading skills. Students will rate what they read and write reviews to share with the other students to help peak their interest in reading a specific book or article.
Having these Kindle to improve reading and 21st Century skill allows my students to keep those dreams of attending college so they can become the future teachers, doctors, police officers and nurses.
These Kindle will represent a brighter future for students who want to be the first to attend and graduate from college in their family.
