There are approximately 30 students in my kindergarten class. Our school is one of the smaller schools in the district; therefore we do not get as much money as the larger schools. The school that I teach at is a community school. This is my first year teaching kindergarten and I have so much that I want to teach these little minds. With the help of our wonderful donors, my job will be so much easier. Please help us in our new school year!
My Project
The items donated will be used to create a comfortable and inviting, independent learning center at which they will enjoy spending time and working on their own. They will practice reading books, magazines, and lots of informational texts. This will enable them to feel proud and actually take some ownership in what they are reading. An added benefit of an independent reading center is students get to practice returning books to their proper place and to keep a clean area. They are held accountable for their learning, actions, and behavior. They choose books on their independent reading levels. They sit on the comfortable chairs in the independent reading center to read books quietly.
