Reading With Families During Summer! (Title I)

My Project

This project is to help give my students each a book to keep at the end of this 2nd grade school year. I have chosen a fun, entertaining read that all of my students can enjoy! This end-of-the-year gift will actually have perfect timing, due to the last major math topic we cover in the second grade being shapes and partitioning. Students will get a wonderful text to read at home with their families while reviewing math concepts at the same time. Many benefits will come from this project: It will help give the students a new book to have at home, students will be able to work on their reading accuracy and fluency, as well as build their self-confidence in math and reading at the same time! It will also increase the school and home connection with my student's families as they read together.

I love the idea of connecting math with literature!

Students will truly enjoy these gifts, and I know that they will treasure them for many years to come. Not only will my students be reviewing many geometry standards and topics through this book, but it is a gift that they can cherish for many years to come. This year is especially special for my current class because they have never had a full year in person yet due to the pandemic. I want to be able to offer my students every opportunity possible. Being able to give them a gift of literature with math integration would be absolutely perfect for this group of second graders. Thank you for your time and support of my classroom.
