My Project
The students at Northwest are all amazing! They have caring hearts and are motivated to learn. Even though we are a Title 1 school, the staff collaborates and works together to give the students what they need with the resources we have available to us. We strive daily to help our students become lifelong learners.
These materials will help our struggling third graders reach proficiency, develop confidence and grow their comprehension skills.
Our staff is in our first year of learning the science of reading through the LETRS program. We have discovered many third graders are deficient in phonics and decoding skills. This gap in their reading strands of the Reading Rope hinder their ability to become skilled, accurate and proficient readers. That's our end goal to help students become confident, fluent readers that can comprehend grade level literature.
These materials will be a huge supplement to our reading program. They are resources that can be used by all 130 third graders. The materials are also reusable which means they will continue to benefit all future third graders for many years to come.
