My Students
I have grades K-5 as a school librarian. I am continually working on increasing the love of learning in all of my students: anything from how to find books within the library system to lessons that go with popular read-aloud books while in the library.
They only get a limited time in the library and I want to make it as enjoyable of an experience as possible.
I encourage all of my students to find books that they will enjoy and help encourage them to read. For some of my students this is the only way that they get access to a wide range of books. Working in a school where my students come from low income households, I want to make the library a place where they feel loved, safe and a place they can use to escape to different places by the books I have in the library.
My Project
These materials will be used to help add some color in an otherwise white library. I love the idea of adding colors where I can in the space that the students working in. The stools will provide easy and colorful seating options as they use the computers in the library to help find books they are searching for.
Color helps change a persons mood.
To go along with adding some color and brightness to the space the posters will also help motivate them as they go about their week. My plan is to swap out the posters every couple months or so to help change things around and to help keep the students on their toes. That is why the command strips are perfect for that.
Our students seem to thrive better in an environment that is colorful and welcoming and i just want to help provide that space for them here at school.
